You Have A Purpose

September 08, 2020 THE MMA TEAM

I was just thinking the other day about how creative and intentional our God is.

With the sound of His voice He created light and darkness, the oceans and the heavens, the sun, moon, and stars, animals of the air,  sea, and land and yet His work was still not complete.

He created mankind last because despite all of creation, nothing could have a relationship full of love and adoration.

He didn’t just speak us into existence either - He picked up dust and BREATHED LIFE into us. He made us in His perfect image in a way that was different than all the other things He created.

If God took the time to breathe life into dust to make you, wouldn’t you think there would be a purpose for your life?

I thought my life was meaningless, and I thought the world would be better off without me. I even had the nerve to hate God for making me. It wasn’t until high school when I was at my lowest point that God met me.

I realised He was always there, but I was so blinded by what the world told me that I missed Him. He never gave up on me. My family never gave up on me. My church never gave up on me.

I’m not saying the transformation was easy, but I am turning twenty-two this month and it’s been three years and counting since I harmed myself or attempted to take my own life.

God has really shown me that I am meant for something greater than myself.

He has shown me that I am beautiful, I am worthy, I am loved, I am called, I am adopted, I am more than enough, I am strong, I am brave, and I am who He created me to be.

It wasn’t an overnight miracle to get to where I am now. It took years of prayers from my family and friends, some hard conversations with my mentors, and a lot of surrender on my part. I cried countless tears, begging God to save me.  I had to open up and be vulnerable, I had to let people in and trust them to hold me accountable, I had to surrender my pride and be willing to listen and be helped.

When I surrendered, when I let others help me, that’s when I was able to step into the destiny that God has for me.

What He has done in my life He can do in yours. Don’t think for a second that my life has any more value or purpose than yours does. We are all equal in his sight and we each are here for a reason.

Esther 4:14 says, “Perhaps, this is the moment for which you were created.” This was said by Esther’s cousin Mordecai. The king was looking for a bride and Esther was chosen. At this time, the king was going to kill all the Israelites; Esther and Mordecai were Jews. Esther was scared to marry the king and the king didn’t know Esther was an Israelite. Mordecai knew that this is what God had purposed for her. God gave her the strength and courage to save His people.

Now you may say, “I am not a princess. I am not beautiful. What purpose can God have for me?” Psalm 139:14 says, “I am wonderful and uniquely made.” All of us were made in God’s perfect image, and whether you believe it or not, you are here on this earth for a reason.

That reason is something that God designed just for you. He has gifted each of us with a unique skill set that will help us accomplish His calling on our lives. Our gifts and our calling may look like others, but no one can reach the people He wants you to reach.

I read something the other day that said, “Someone, somewhere—is depending on you to answer God’s call”. Don’t waste a second believing the lies of Satan. You are anointed and you are meant to be here. Accept your identity. Wear it with pride. Live out the purpose God has for you. If you don’t know what it is, start by loving God, love His people, and love yourself. You do that and God will reveal His purpose for you.
