Just Queenin’!

October 16, 2021 THE MMA TEAM

I've never played Chess, but I have always been fond of how strategic and focused the game appears to be.

I noticed that one of the most prized pieces in the game is the Queen, so I did a bit of research.

In the game of Chess, the Queen is considered to be the most powerful piece because she has the freedom to move about the board in any direction across any number of unoccupied spaces. She is worth more than most of the other pieces on the board.  I thought about this more and applied it to real life.

When we use the term Queen, you may hear statements like, "You're a queen and you're beautiful," "Keep being great Queen," and "Just Queenin." In these statements, Queen is being referred to as a woman who is eminent in rank and power and should be highly esteemed. Interestingly enough, life is similar to a game of Chess...it can be difficult to navigate, attacks are sure to come, you'll have to be strategic with your moves at times, and you'll have some ups and downs.

However, in the game of life unlike Chess, women often neglect or forget their worth and power, and often feel constrained and unable to make moves freely.

Circumstances in life, upbringing, and lack of self-esteem are just a few of the reasons why women would neglect or forget their worth and power and not live up to their queenly attributes.

Often as women, we may feel like we are barely making it through the day with our sanity intact, let alone feel like a queen!

There may even be days when we don't feel like we've won the game, BUT...we must be patient.  Sometimes the game is not played in a single day. Instead, it is played over time.

We may be down today, but tomorrow we can be victorious in knocking out a few pawns.

Whether your pawn or challenge is being an overwhelmed mother, an overworked employee, a tired student, a concerned caretaker, etc., you can adjust your crown and shift your focus back to a Queendom mindset.

“What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.

You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet”.

(The Bible, Psalm 8:4-6, NIV)

In Psalm 8, we are reminded of how valuable God's creation, mankind is. The scripture says that God made we are crowned with glory and honor and to be rulers of all things.

This is an excellent example of why we should always hold our heads high and push forward. Even when we don't feel so queenly, we must renew our minds, remember how valuable we are in the sight of God, and know that our purpose in the game of life is greater than our pain. We must continuously adjust our crowns, maintain our power, and keep being great Queen!
