FIRST, LAST AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

December 01, 2020 THE MMA TEAM

As a teenager, if you were to ask me what my biggest fear was, I would have told you I was desperately afraid of being unsuccessful.

At the time, success meant attaining something so grand, which would make everyone in my life proud of me.  Eventually, that twisted into an insecurity that I wasn’t good enough to attain the heights that I set for myself. So naturally, the fear grew even greater.

Throughout my college years, it was always in the back of my mind that I wouldn’t be able to reach my ultimate goal in life, because every step was so hard. School was hard. Finding “the one” was hard. Even pouring into friendships at times was hard. I would keep pushing towards the goal, and encourage others to do the same, but there was always this little feeling that I wasn’t going to ‘make it’.

Fortunately, I can stand today and say I was so wrong, and I’m happy to say that if you are experiencing these feelings, you’re wrong too! Why? Because with God it is impossible to fail! I know, I know, such a cliche Christian thing to say right? But hear me out.

I’m not talking about failing a road test or not making the cut for the regional choir. I’m talking about ultimately failing  in life.

God has the final say, and His ultimate desire is YOUR growth and development in Him. Real success is to fulfill the purpose God has for you, and if you allow Him, God will do what it takes to help you be successful in that way.

It’s important for you to know that God desires nothing but the best for His children. His end goal is for humanity to be what it was before the fall. He desires for us to have that intelligence, skill, AND wisdom. Everything He does in our lives is to develop us and thus to elevate us. To elevate us, to help us reach the highest heights, to bring us back to what He intended for us to be, is already part of God’s plan for us.

The problem usually comes when God’s plans for us doesn’t match our own. But once we realize the limits of our own thinking, our own plans, and submit to God, things will eventually fall into place.

I’m not saying don’t go to school — I’m saying pray to God and include Him in the process of choosing a school and major. I’m not saying don’t go on job interviews — I’m saying pray throughout your application and interview process. When your children bring you to your wits end, allow God to teach you how to properly mold and teach them. When there are misunderstandings with your spouse, allow God to teach you to effectively communicate in love.

I like to make ‘plans of attack’ for my goals, so if you want to dream, overcome, exceed, and repeat, then the following ought to be your plan too!

Here’s the plan: Speak to God at the start and at the end of your day, as His opinion is the only one that matters.

Make sure that HE is included at every point in your decision making.  This is the secret to real success.

If you follow this plan, you can’t fail in life. When you have a moment where it seems you can’t make it, like you can’t reach a certain height, remember this—make God first, last, and everything in-between. With this plan, everything will work out for your ultimate benefit.
