Life before a personal encounter
My faith has always been a part of my life. I was born into a Christian home and brought up to believe in Jesus Christ. Growing up I attended church regularly and as a family we always had family devotions (My mum ensured we could recite psalm 91!), So through the years I grew up a church girl.
During my Uni days, I got into a relationship with someone outside of my faith. He was a very good guy, who showered me with love and had high moral standards. I honestly believed that we were meant to be, even though he did not share my faith in Jesus Christ. We had plans to get married and I really thought it didn’t matter. At the time I just didn’t realise how big a deal it was to be with someone who did not share in my faith.
After 4 years the relationship ended, and it was really hard.
For anyone reading this in a similar situation, fulfilling God’s purpose with an ungodly partner will be very hard. Seek God’s will: don’t be unequally yoked.
After my encounter
All praise and thanks to God almighty, who turned my heart back to HIM!
I knew that God had created me for a purpose and that I needed to consciously walk in alignment with HIS plan for me which brings me to sharing two of my favourite scripture:
Eccl 12:13 and Matthew 6:33. They have been such a living guide for me.
When I started to study the scriptures for myself, I found it to be very interesting unlike before where I would just read it for readings sake!
Bible study is now an integral part of my walk with God. HE speaks to me through HIS word…It is so sweet to get a Rhema of God’s word.
I also love to worship God and encounter HIS presence whenever I worship him genuinely in songs. This doesn’t always happen, but whenever it does it is another sweet encounter to feel God in the atmosphere.
I’ve also grown to understand that activating the power of the Holy Spirit is vital (By flesh shall no man prevail). The bible says God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
This is not to say as Christians we do not encounter temptations, as a matter of fact the bible tells us that the flesh is in constant battle against the spirit.
Any thing we feed the most ultimately masters us, so if you feed your flesh with worldly desires neglecting the spirit the flesh will always prevail, but if you feed your spirit by building it up and neglect worldly desires, the spirit wins. (That’s the formula).
I have also become more heavenly focused and have realised that even if I was to live 120 years here on earth, it is incomparable to how I will spend all of eternity in God’s presence.
I also know that there are kingdom-focused women like me out there who are struggling with daily battles and struggles (doubt, worry, fear, unforgiveness e.t.c) hence the reason I started my blog and social media platforms to address these Issues and encourage one another in our journeys.
Following Jesus is the best decision I have made, it can be the same for you too.
If you want to surrender or re-dedicate your life to Jesus, say this prayer below:
“Lord Jesus, thank you for your unconditional love towards me, I am sorry for all my sins. Please show me mercy today and cleanse me with your precious blood that was shed on the cross at Calvary. Create in me a clean heart O Lord, renew a right spirit within me. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, thank you for saving my soul. Please give me the grace not to look back from this decision. In Jesus mighty name I pray”.
Read the following scriptures John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 16:30-31, John 5:24 and Roman 10:9-10.
Start attending a bible believing church if you do not have one now.
God bless you!
