GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

October 11, 2020 THE MMA TEAM

One of God’s greatest promises is His faithfulness. As children of God on this Earth, believers, and non-believers have experienced His faithfulness. Although non-believers won’t believe it was God, as believers, we KNOW God favors everyone.

We have many reminders in the Bible of God’s faithfulness, like in Psalm 33:3, “For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does” (NIV). And because of God’s love for us is why He is faithful.

Lamentations 3:22-23, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassion never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (NIV).

In our walk as Christians, we have and will continue to have many testimonies of God’s faithfulness. And my most significant testimony happened the year I got pregnant with my daughter. Now, a lot happened that year, so I’ll summarize it as best I can.

I gave my life to Jesus in 2012, but I didn’t automatically start living a Christian life until years later. I got pregnant with my daughter in March of the following year, and yes, it was out of wedlock. During this time, I lived in Michigan alone, and her father had to leave for New York shortly after I found out I was expecting.

I didn’t have a place of my own, and where I was staying, I couldn’t live anymore. I had a temporary job which was done at the end of the month. I needed to find a place to live as soon as possible and find a job even faster than that.

A friend of mine, which I consider more like a sister, suggested I speak with her parents to see if I could stay in their spare bedroom. They were thrilled at the news that I was expecting and told me how much of a blessing babies are. They didn’t mind me staying with them the only problem was that they were moving in July and their new house wouldn’t have a spare bedroom for me.

Since they allowed me to stay at their place for a few months, my next focus was to find a job. I got hired at a few different places, but nothing that I could do long term and most of them didn’t offer any benefits, I needed health insurance.

I found out about a call center that was hosting a hiring event, they were looking to build a bilingual team, and the starting pay rate was relatively good. And they offered benefits. I went to the interview and received an offer the following day! PRAISE THE LORD!

July was soon approaching, and I had to find a place to stay again. A close friend from high school offered me to stay at her home; the only thing is that I would have to sleep on the couch since the basement was not complete, and there wasn’t a spare bedroom. I did not care; I had a roof over my head.

During this time, I was also attending school. I wanted to work in the healthcare field as a medical assistant, so I was going for a nine-month program to get my medical assistant certification.

Now, I have a good job, I am finishing school, but I still don’t have my own place. I searched for apartments, but I wasn’t able to get approved for anything because I didn’t have credit – I needed a consigner. My immediate family was all in Florida, except for one uncle. I had to put on my big girl pants and ask for him to cosign.

The talk he had with me, I remember it vividly to this day. He informed me that he had promised himself not to help anyone credit-wise because of its sensitivity. But my situation was complicated, so he agreed to be my cosigner! LOOK AT GOD WITH HIS FAITHFULNESS COMING THROUGH!!

We are now up to October; I have my own one-bedroom apartment, a good job with benefits, and finished school. My due date was at the end of November, so now, I could actually enjoy it for the first time of my pregnancy! The last month I could focus on just getting ready for my baby girls’ arrival.

God came through for me time and time again during this time, and I look back, and I’m always in awe of his faithfulness. Although I said earlier, I was “alone” in Michigan; I wasn’t. I had God by my side every single step of the way, as it says in Deuteronomy 3:16, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord, your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (NIV). And He placed the right people in my path who could help me.

His faithfulness is one of the best promises He has for us. And He will be with you every step of your life. Through the good and the bad, He is there; we are never alone. I am forever grateful for His faithfulness, and He will be faithful to you too because He loves you.
